Home Baking - Peanut Butter Cookies

Wow, we've been spending half day doing 1 of the Chinese new year cookies which is peanut butter cookies. It looks great and taste nice too. If you have time, you can also do it yourself. :D Here is the recipe..

Ingredients:
140 g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
115g butter, at room temp
165 light brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla esence
265 crunchy peanut butter (wow, expensive cookies if you buy branded peanut butter.. :P)

Steps...
  1. Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt and set aside.
  2. Cream your butter and sugar until light and fluffy using electric mixer. Add the egg and continue beating to blend.
  3. In another bowl, mix the egg and vanilla, then gradually beat into the butter mixture.
  4. Stir in the peanut butter and blend thoroughly. Then, stir in the dry ingredients (#1). Refrigerate for at least 30 min...
  5. Preheat oven to 180C.
  6. Make round shape and press flat with a fork. Make a criss-cross pattern. Bake 16-18minutes until lightly coloured.
Make the dough into ball shape. Then press flat with a fork. Make a criss-cross  pattern

Cool it down and ready to serve! :D

Note to God

This is a wonderful lyric and beautiful voices from Charice... Praise the Lord. :)

Enjoy and welcome 2012... Hope God will put more tenderness in humans' heart because this world have so much went wrong.... Let's pray. :D

If I wrote a note to God
I would speak what's in my soul
I'd ask for all the hate to be swept away
And for love to overflow

If I wrote a note to God
I'd pour my heart out on each page
I'd ask for wars to end
And for peace to mend this world
I'd say, I'd say, I'd say

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is overdue
And it seems like so much is goin' wrong
On this road we're on

If I wrote a note to God
I'd say please help us find our way
End all the bitterness
Put some tenderness in our hearts
And I'd say, I'd say, I'd say

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is overdue
And it looks like we haven't got a clue
Need some help from you

Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin' wrong
On this road we’re on

No, no
We can't do this on our own
So, so

(Give us the strength to make it through)
(Help us find love cause love is overdue)
And it looks like we haven't got a clue
Need some help (from you)
Grant us the faith to carry on
(Give us) hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin' wrong
On this road we're on

No, no
We can't do this on our own
So, so

If I wrote a note to God...

Tears of JOY

Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. One of the fruit i feel most is joy. Since i got pregnant, i feel so joyful. Feel with loves surrounding me. First was from my hubby. He cared for me.He was sensitive with my emotional and my needs. I feel thankful for having him as my hubby and my baby father. One of my colleague told me she hate to see her husband when she was pregnant. But i am totally different. I wish to stick to him and follow him around. I feel secured when he is around me. MY family, colleagues, friends cares make me feel so been loved and blessed.

Since this pregnancy.. i like to cry. But this is the cry from a joyful heart. Every month, i see him is growing up in my belly. He make me feel so blessed and loved. Every day and night, i imagine how he will look like. I pray, pray and pray so that he is healthy in my belly. I started to imagine future life with him around running here and there. I just hope my hubby and i will be able to provide a happy surrounding for him. He is just a beautiful and biggest blessing that God had grant us. Nothing can be compared to any blessings that God had grant me.  Four more months to go, mommy eagerly waiting for you outside. Mommy loves you so much, dear... :D

Curry Puff 2!

Well, if you happen to read my wife's blog (Love of Curry Puffs) and my blog (Back Hometown Is really Nice) recently, probably you know that I'm making some curry puffs. I'm new in making curry puffs and I'm always trying.. :)

On the 26th Oct, I got the curry puff recipe from my mom through phone and make it for my wife to eat. Actually, it is nice looking, but not really nice to eat. haha! :P

Nice Looking but not nice to eat.. :P
So, what to do next?!

By creating chance to meet....

Yeah, MY PARENTS! I went back hometown last 2 weeks and ask my parents to show me how to do the curry puffs... I recorded down all their procedure and spent every single time with them during curry puffs session! I even have the video.. :)
The only thing that I not manage to do well is the "flower" of the curry puffs.

Dad! You 're awesome! :D
Pastry and pre-cook curry puff
Shape of the pastry, why two layers? Hehe, I know the answer! :)
Nice "flower" of the curry puff from my dad

Ta Da!!! Well cooked! :D
By luck!!!
My wife's relative! They come to visit grandpa and celebrate my wife's cousin's son birthday this weekend. So they stay at my house around 4-5 days. While we chit-chat, I mentioned abt my curry puffs that I made last few weeks ago and it was not taste so good... Wow, they gave so many advices and end up, they plan to teach me! What a golden opportunity! So, we buy all the cooking materials and make curry puff yesterday...

(Allow me to intro my wife's relative and very very cute baby from my wife's cousin!)
My wife's "ah yi"
My wife and the baby.. :P

My wife's "ah kim"
The method is quite different from my parents but both also very nice. They also teach me how to do the "flower" of the curry puffs. I think, the biggest achievement would be the "flower" of the curry puff. I no longer need to use this...  I use my own hand to do the flower! :D

No need to use this to do curry puff
1st time to do the flower! Oh my God, what is that?!!Damn..
After improvement... :D
GAO DIM!
I think I grade myself as "C+" (just passed) at this moment! I will cont' to improve my curry puffs skills... See ya! :D
